Hello “Let’s Bounce”! Phoenix Phase 2 – Boat Show – Thank’s Marco

Just deked back inside and cozy from the onset of the polar vortex. I spent the day at the Toronto Boat Show. A few more sailboat this year and some bumps into some friend I usually see during the sailing season. Charles and I shared some cool ideas regarding getting more folks into, and fit for sailing. Dan at North Sails is doing fine and I met a new potential sailing Pal from Whitby. There is anew Asian Sailing community, Broad Reach is represented and the dudes making novel 3D printed furlers were on the scene. I didn’t take many pictures but it was a perfect day wander every aisle alone and incognito mode.

Most interesting to me were the options I discovered regarding deck grip options and the advancments of solar and Lithium battery tech. The show is focused primarily on motorized watercraft and power type boats but it’s cool just to see what’s up.

I’ll get back to sorting out my solar stuff as the days get longer and more essential stuff gets sorted out on Let’s Bounce. I did leave behind the coolest cutting board. I am gonna regret leaving that behind.

Cool stuff from the show:

Thanks Marco

Marco stopped by on Saturday to say Hello and to give me a hand with this and that on the boat. Not the sexiest job but it was a really beauty of a gesture to help me remove the old mangled deck lid gasket and it’s stubborn adhesive.

The Phoenix – Upwards With The End In Sight

Everything is positive at this point and it’s time to reassemble Let’s Bounce with a priority of safety, function and comfort as the boat’s systems slowly get put back together. Paul has been a saint in jumping in Ad Hoc to help with all kinds of things as the last miles finds blockers and unsuritys at the last minute. Dan the “NKE guy has been super helpful as well as I figure out how to optimize the power and over current protection at all points of load on the boat.

This coming week I plan to tackle wrapping up the internal wiring and AMP inventory as well as to fill all the holes the hold the deck lid on tight. I’ll route the lines from the mast in the spring when I have some time to get that figure out. The head will remain a bit stinky as it’s too late to flush out the black water tank at this point.

Great idea – 3M Velcro for all things that would normally require screws inside. (Like devices, fuse boxes, TopLine, AIS etc.) The stuff is strong enough now to really hold things that would otherwise leave holes or if I am unsure about placement.

Here’s a list in no real order of thing to sort out over the next 3 weeks:

  • Finish internal wiring and stick things with velcro
  • Fill and clean up all the wood and holes needed to secure the deck lid
  • Sort out DC wiring to power the PI and a Screen
  • Replace lid hatch cams and hinges
  • Clean everything
  • Sort ingress path from stern
  • Waterproof battery areas and under the head sink
  • Rig shower curtain
  • Find, tape and fill all holes in the boat
  • Use vacuum to find any air pockets in ballasts, rear portal
  • Plan deck grip areas
  • Plan to fill head sink thru holes

Night ya’ll!
