TWIS – 2 Year Mark – LOSHRS 5&6 – Ahmen 7 – Club Races – Shackle Jams

This week, on September 22, 2023 – It’s been officially 2 years since passing my Can Sail 1 & 2!! Lots of adventures over the last couple of years. Just feeling like I am doing a decent job of honouring the traditions, logging miles and hours and really being open to the subtleties of what sailing is all about. 4 More years until Fastnet 2027!

Woot!

LOSHRS 5 & 6 on Megawatt with Marco

Ahhh, so so nice to be long distance sailing shorthanded. I love the checklists, preparation, weather uncertainty, curiosity, and quest for peacefulness and performance. Super cool vibe onboard and onshore. Rafting up with the ‘shorties’, sharing boat management duties, entering a new harbour, hours of fine tuning the spinnaker in 2-3 knots (and less). Not much as far a details but my key memories and setting out with just the two of us not knowing what might happen. We finished 4th in leg 1 and 2nd in leg two!

Race Ahmen 7 with Chris and Vlad

Windy jam today. I am a bit tired to write much but we had a good time. Need to keep the tacks tighter and faster. Also, as good CREW, always bring laminated course with grease pen and log the course, tape in cockpit.

Shackle Jam with Rob

Worked on some soft shackles with Rob with various diameters of Dynema (Amsteel). Cut some a bit short so we divided them into load bearing (diamond knot) and GFTG (Good for the garage) – other stopper knots. Need to remember to get line cut in 40 inch units for 3/16 and 1/4 inch.

Ok, good night!
